LET´S GIVE CHANCE a CHANCE
This project was a Home-Visiting Clinical Programme for High-risk Families with Young Children under 3 years.
This project was realized in the years 2000-2006. Since 2007, its activities have been realizing in the scope of the project Social Activation Services for Families with Children in accordance with the Social Services Act.
WHY
STREP responded to the absence of programmes for families focussed on parenting skills and behaviour training and on ensuring a safe family environment with regard to the needs of newborns and toddlers. The programme was prevention of CAN, a tool of prevention of removing children at early age from their families and a tool of their safe return home.
FOR WHOM
This programme was intended for the target group of young socially disadvantaged parents with children from 0 to 3 years of age (or expectant parents) and it was focussed on parenting skills training and the stabilization of social conditions to ensure proper care for the child.
Aims of the programme:
- The lowest possible number of the very youngest children removed from their families and placed in institutional care.
- The lowest possible number of children living in institutional care.
- The shortest possible length of their stay in institutional care.
- The highest possible number of children returning from institutional care to their family or an environment as similar as possible to a family.
- Prevention of neglect of children in families.
Basic points of cooperation with the family:
- Parenting skills and behaviour training and support.
- Improvement in social conditions of the family.
- Reducing the level of neglect of children in families.
- Preventing the children being taken away from their family.
- Return of the child from institutional care facility to the family.
- Reducing the risk of child neglect in the future.
